Round Shaft Helical l
Round Shaft Piers are used in compression Helical piles have significant load bearing capacity and are used in both compression (downward) and tension (uplift) applications. In many cases, round shaft helical piers will be used in compression applications. From large commercial companies to small business contractors who look to enhance their business and increase their competitive edge. KXD helical pile will give you that advantage with our new technology and products for your next project.

Helical anchors are used for new construction and to support existing structures. They are designed for applications in expansive soils, high water tables, fill areas, and other areas where unstable soils require a deep foundation. In compression they are used as footers and in tension they may be used to support retaining or foundation walls. Helical piers are round or square, tubular or bar steel shafts with round helix plates welded to them.
Round Shaft Advantages
- Superior lateral stability
- Greater section modulus strength to resist twisting and deflection
- Patented cross-bolt connection
- Greater load capacities
- Easy to install
- Installs in any season
- Minimal soil disturbance
- Not affected by a high water table

Helical piles (also called helical piers, helical anchor, screw piles, earth screws, etc.) are a versatile, fast, durable and cost- effective deep foundation technology.
Helical pile foundations are segmented deep foundation systems with helical bearing plates welded to a central round or square steel shaft. The load of a structure is transferred from the shaft to the soil through these bearing plates. The concept is founded on the principle of turning a screw into stable subsoil strata until the torque applied indicates that the necessary load capacity has been achieved. Helical piles work for both compression and tension loads.
The first piece of the helical pile is called the lead; this is the piece that is first rotated into the ground. The lead has multiple helical blades, also referred to as helical bearing plates, that can vary in size, shape, and number. After the lead follows any number of extensions, depending on the required torque or depth. These are simply shafts that are bolted and pinned to the lead and to each other at their ends. The top of the pile is the incorporated into the foundation system via a bracket or other connection method.
Helical piles mean:
- structural stability in loose or poor soils,
- no vibrations installation,
- fast installation (no cure times),
- no spoils,
- using smaller equipment to install,
- no disruption to surrounding area,
- safe for environmentally sensitive areas,
- installation in small or enclosed spaces.
Helical piles come in a wide range of sizes.
Square Shaft typically range from, 0.5" to 2.25" square bar diameter. Lengths range from 3ft. to 10ft. Round Shaft helical piles have typical diameters of 2.875" to 8.625" and lengths of 3.5ft to 10ft. Additionally, high-capacity Round Shaft helical piles are typically 5.5", 7.0" and 8.625" diameter. There are special application Round Shaft helical piles that reach up to 36" in diameter.
Helical piles also offer lateral stability, especially when installed with a grout column. Often, helical piles are galvanized for corrosion protection.
Helical Piles are used worldwide to secure residential and commercial buildings, tower foundations, heavy equipment foundations, and many other deep foundation system applications.
Our products that are hot dip galvanized and meet ASTM A153/A123 standards for optimum corrosion protection. All HPS welders are certified to meet American Welding Society (AWS) Standards (D1.1). Quality control ensures products meet ratings and ISO:9001 Certification and design details to our in-house application engineers to ensure the success of each project.
APPLICATIONS FOR HELICAL PILES
A helical pier is a deep foundation. Its purpose is to transfer a structural load to deeper, stronger, and less compressible materials bypassing any weaker and more compressible materials that would be unsuitable for the support of a conventional shallow foundation. As a deep foundation, a helical pier should be considered for most applications that would call for a driven pile, drilled pier, or mini pile. Helical piles and anchors are usually a great foundation solution to any of the applications below whether it's a new build or existing structure.
- Commercial Buildings
- Mobile Home Anchors
- Tilt-up Wall Anchors
